Slippery Rock University began its nationally, and internationally, recognized Sport Management program in 1977.  The program services about 170 students each academic year.  Slippery Rock Sport Management students are exposed to a thorough curriculum covering the various aspects of the sport industry.  The program was most recently one of the first recipients of the COSMA accreditation in 2010.

The program provides students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge through experiences outside the traditional class setting.  Each student is required to complete four practia, one internship, 120 volunteer hours and attend one conference during their time at Slippery Rock.  Also, each year during spring break, an international program is offered and Sport Management students have visited various locations in Europe and South America.
