 Our Students Are Prepared

We believe that your success in our Health, Wellness, and Fitness programs is built on a foundation of academic rigor, intellectual curiosity, and real-world experiences. Our students are prepared when they graduate from SRU.

Teresa Elliott:

"I am prepared to provide quality care to the soldiers of the United States Army. Slippery Rock University has given me the knowledge and hands-on experience to effectively treat the soldiers going through basic training at Fort Benning. The solid foundation that I received at SRU has allowed me to excel in this demanding, fast-paced environment."

Jeremy Gebhart:

“I am prepared for success in medical school because of the Exercise Science program at Slippery Rock University. I enjoyed studying a human science at SRU. My ‘non-traditional’ premed major and my research experience in Exercise Science made me uniquely qualified when it came time to compete for a spot in medical school. I am excited about a career in orthopedics/sports medicine, and I would highly recommend Exercise Science at SRU.”

Ally DeShurko:

"I am prepared to engage a wide variety of resort guests in a multitude of recreational activities. Whether it is team building “Amazing Nature Races,” arts and crafts, games, and more, I am prepared to ensure that the resort guests will be activelyengaged and involved in outdoor and indoor activities."

"I am prepared to teach health and physical education at Mellon Middle school in the Mt.  Lebanon school district grades 6-8. I am also the Vice President of Physical Education for the Pennsylvania Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and the co-chair for the Mt.Lebanon Employee Wellness Program. Slippery Rock University gave me the knowledge and skills to teach our youth to be healthy and active for life.  I'm grateful for my Rock solid education."

Seth Hake:

"I am prepared for Graduate School. At first I was anxious about starting Physician Assistant School at South College in Tennessee. However, after speaking with other incoming students, I am very prepared. I believe the Public Health program at SRU has prepared me for the rigors ahead. I have begun reading for my classes and discovered many topics covered in Epidemiology have overlapped with our Health Assessment and Physical Exam Class."

Deanna Guarnaccio:

"I am prepared – I am Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist who is the Recreation Manager for LIFE Pittsburgh, a community based program serving the healthcare needs of older adults. As Recreation Manager, I am responsible for  overseeing the development and implementation of therapeutic recreation programs in four Adult Day Health Centers encompassing 36 total staff.   My work is so rewarding and it all began at SRU!!"
