Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra names SRUs Warren Davidson director
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. Warren Davidson, Slippery Rock University music instructor, has been named the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestras music director.
Davidson, who teaches violin and viola at SRU, is also conductor of the SRU Symphony Orchestra, serves as concertmaster for the Westmoreland Symphony and the Altoona Symphony Orchestra in Blair County and is principal viola for the McKeesport Symphony Orchestra. He joined the SRU faculty in 2001.
In his new post, he will be responsible for conducting the orchestra's concerts and programming the music.
The all-volunteer Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra presents five annual concerts. Former PCO directors include nationally-known composer David Stock and Boston Pops Conductor Keith Lockhart. The orchestra is celebrating its 50th season this year and next.
