Safe Zone is a program that was designed to foster a welcoming and supportive campus for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students, staff, and faculty and to identify those members of the University community who are supportive by creating a visible network of allies.

Safe Zone volunteers participate in a Safe Zone training workshop to increase their knowledge about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender concerns. They serve as an informal resource and provide support to LGBT people and help them access campus resources.

The Student Health Services staff recognizes and appreciates the diversity of Slippery Rock University’s student body and their health care needs. Our staff has participated in Safe Zone training to assist in providing services in a way that is sensitive to the concerns of LGBT students.

Look for the Safe Zone symbols throughout campus to help you identify Safe Zone Project Participants.
