Rock duo take Football Gazette All-America team honors
PITTSBURG, Kan. – Brandon Fusco of Cranberry Township and Akeem Satterfield of Erie, both Slippery Rock University football standouts, have been named to the Don Hansen Football Gazette All-America team. Fusco was also featured in The Sporting News earlier this week.
Fusco was named to Football Gazette first team All-America honors at center, while Satterfield was named to second team honors at running back. The Sporting News highlighted Fusco in a section noting some of the top storylines heading into the week of the Under Armour Senior Bowl set for Saturday.
Fusco has collected a series of postseason honors, including the 2010 Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year and Dave Rimington Award presented to the top Division II center in the nation, as well as Associated Press Little All-America and first-team American Football Coaches Association and Daktronics All-America honors. A first-team All-PSAC-West selection each of the last three seasons, he earned 2010 first-team Preseason All-America honors from The Sporting News, Consensus Draft Services, D2Football.com and D2PRODAY.com. He also earned invitations to participate in the Cactus Bowl, East/West Shrine and NFLPA postseason all-star games.
