SRU graduate earns Rising Star Award from PRSA
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Deanna Ferrari, a 2006 Slippery Rock University communication graduate, has been presented the Rising Star Award by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
The award was presented at the organization’s annual awards banquet.
Ferrari, who had worked as a senior account executive at WordWrite, a Pittsburgh-based public relations firm, is returning to MARC USA, an integrated advertising agency in Pittsburgh, in a newly created social business specialist position. In her new post she will handle all social media operations.
Ferrari played an active role in a campaign with Regency Global Transportation Group during last year’s G-20 Summit. She began her PR career as an assistant account executive with MARC. She is an active board member of the Pittsburgh chapter of PRSA and currently is director-at-large, communications. She is also the social media and publicity chair.
She recently implemented the chapter’s first-ever “Social Media Mentions Rewards Program,” which encourages members to be active with the chapter in social media by using sites such as Twitter, Facebook and location-based platforms to win free attendance to future PRSA events.
