SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University Government Contracting Assistance Center will host a free "Basics of Federal Government Contracting Seminar" from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Feb. 13, at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township.

"The federal government is the world's largest purchaser of goods and services and government agencies are ready to do business on a competitive basis with qualified companies," said Renee Decker, government contract specialist at SRU.

Products and services purchased include manufactured parts, office supplies, medical supplies, computer hardware and software, construction and construction materials, environmental services, information technology services, landscaping, research and development, architect and engineering services, printing and training.

To be successful, companies must first understand how the government conducts business, Decker said.
