Two SRU women earn honors at Miss Meadville Pageant
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Lacey Weaver, a Slippery Rock University therapeutic recreation major from Conneautville, has been crowned Miss Meadville Area 2011, and Amanda Pope, an SRU senior elementary education major from McKeesport, was named first runner up in the joint Meadville Area and Great Lakes pageants.
The two participated in last weekend’s Miss Meadville Area and Miss Great Lakes scholarship pageants in Meadville.
Weaver, who received a $1,000 scholarship, now goes on to compete for the Miss Pennsylvania title in June, forerunner to the Miss America Pageant. She will spend the next year promoting her platform "Little Moments, Big Magic, HUGE Impact: Big Brothers Big Sisters."
Pope received a $500 scholarship.
