SRU's GCAC hosts free seminar to aid regional businesses

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s Pennsylvania Government Contracting Assistance Center will host a free “Going Online to do Business with the Commonwealth of PA” seminar at 9 a.m., Feb. 15, at the Regional Learning Alliance in Marshall Township.

State websites provide valuable information for businesses interested in selling to state agencies and other potential customers, said Renee Decker, government contracting specialist at SRU’s center. “Knowing what websites to access, how to find the right information and how to navigate on-line systems for submitting bids is essential. This seminar will address how to use online resources to do business with the state.”

“Data mining of the Pennsylvania Department of General Services' website and the Pennsylvania Treasury's website will address how to identify what the state purchases, from whom and for how much. Participants will also learn to research appropriate points of contact, view winning requests for proposals and gather other information,” she said.

Presentations about submitting bids online through the Pennsylvania Supplier Portal and the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education's eProcurement Exchange System are planned. During the sessions, registration processes will be discussed as well as how to identify opportunities and submit bids.
