SRU's Enrollment Services wins awards

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's enrollment services area has earned a Gold Award in the Social Media category and a Silver Award in the Education Digital Marketing Awards category, both part of the Higher Education Marketing Report Publications Group awards program.

The Gold Award came for its work with an Instagram project, and the silver for its undergraduate and graduate digital recruitment viewbooks.

The awards were announced last week.

Kayla Hersperger, SRU's online design and communication specialist in Enrollment Services, put together the Instagram project.

Hersperger, Michael May, director of undergraduate recruitment and admissions, Brandi Weber-Mortimer, director of graduate admissions, and Amanda Yale, associate provost for Enrollment Services, staffed the team behind the digital viewbooks project.

"It is exciting and pleasing to know that the materials we offer potential students is meeting and exceeding that used by other colleges and universities. Our team worked hard to find the right photos, stories and information that prospective students would need in making a decision about where to attend college. To have that work recognized, is certainly appreciated," Yale said.

SRU's viewbooks provide prospective students with an overview of the University, its programs, expectations and student successes. The online project was designed and implemented by TWG Plus, an advertising firm with offices in Texas.

The Higher Education Marketing Report, considered by many as the most widely read publication for educational marketers, recognizes the best educational websites, digital content, electronic communications, mobile media and social media.

The company's competition gives marketing professionals the opportunity to test their programs and content against the best in the nation.

Award submissions are reviewed by a panel of national industry specialists and judged on creativity, marketing execution, message impact, technology application and innovation content.

The report judges educational marketing projects in 30 categories and 14 groups.
