SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's basketball program will honor record-setting point guard Kyle Camper as part of its 3 p.m., Saturday, home game, and the women’s basketball program will honor basketball standout Beth Danburger Snyder during their 1 p.m. game.
Both games are against Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Morrow Field House. The players will have their jerseys retired during halftime of their respective games.
Camper, who now plays professionally in Germany, led the NCAA Division II in assists and set a PSAC record with 305 in 29 games (10.5 per game) during the 2008-09 season after transferring from Division I Iona College and junior-college power Cecil College.
Behind his leadership, the Green and White tripled its win total from the previous season and finished with a 21-8 record, a second-place finish in PSAC-West regular-season competition and a berth in the PSAC semifinals for the first time since 2000. His efforts earned him second-team Daktronics Inc. all-region and second-team All-PSAC-West honors.
Dansberger Snyder was a four-year member of The Rock program from 1992-96 and currently ranks sixth on the school's career scoring list with 1,343 points and eighth on the career rebounding list with 575. She also ranks fourth in games started (100), fifth in career games played (106), seventh in career points per game (12.6) and 10th in career rebounds per game (5.4).
She earned first-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors as a junior in 1994-95 and, as a senior, helped lead The Rock to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference runner-up finish and a berth in the NCAA Division II East Regional tournament.
Individual pre-game receptions will be in the field house. To attend either reception, contact Bill Richter, Slippery Rock University Foundation Inc. athletic development officer, at 724.738.2387.
