SRU graduate signs second season with Erie Explosion

Jayson Nickson, a 2012 Slippery Rock University safety and environmental management graduate and former member of the SRU football team, has been signed to training camp with the Erie Explosion, pro indoor football team in Erie, for the 2014 season.
The team is part of the Continental Indoor Football League.
Nickson played for the team last year as part of its undefeated season in which the team won the 2013 CIFL Championship title. He was part of the defensive unit that had 34 interceptions during the year.
At SRU, Nickson finished his career with 54 total tackles and three interceptions, including one in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship game.
The team opened its 2014 season Feb. 9 by beating the Northern Kentucky River Rates 42-30 in Kentucky.
