SRU graduate, wrestling coach, takes reins as athletic director

Chris Elliott, a 2000 Slippery Rock University history graduate and a former SRU wrestler and coach, has been named athletic director of Kennedy Catholic High School in nearby Hermitage.
Elliott is a 1989 Kennedy Catholic graduate.
He is one of nine, 100-win wrestlers in SRU history with a record of 106-52. He was a member of the SRU squad from 1995-2000 and served as a graduate assistant coach under Steve Roberts. He replaced Roberts when the former coach resigned.
Elliott guided SRU to a 7-6 record in his only season before accepting the head coaching job at James Madison University where he coached for two years before moving to Mercyhurst and later to Seton Hill where he built a program from scratch. His work at Seton Hill produced two All-Americas and four national qualifiers in his six-years there. He later operated his own business, Elliott Elite Wrestling and Conditioning, in Hermitage.
Kennedy Catholic has won more than 125 state, regional, district and conference championships in girls and boys sports during its history. The school is considering combining some of its sports programs with the neighboring Sharon City School District.
