SRU graduate earns BC3 alumni honors

Candace Hartley, a 1986 Slippery Rock University business management graduate, has been honored by the Butler County Community College Alumni Association as a 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient.

As a non-traditional student, she graduated from BC3 in 1984 with an associate degree in business management and then continued her education at SRU.

The award honors those who have used their education and experience at BC3 to achieve significant levels of personal success and have a commitment to community service.

Hartley co-established Unlimited Staff, a staffing agency, with business partner Cindy Sheppeck. The company marked 22 years in business last year.

Hartley is a Lifetime Member of the BC3 Alumni Association and served six years as a member of the BC3 Alumni Council.

She recently established the Candy Hartley ’84 Scholarship to support non-traditional female students. She has been an active member of the Butler AM Rotary Club for 11 years, serving as the club’s president during its creation of the Purple Playground in Butler’s Alameda Park.
