Rock men’s basketball team makes postseason tournament
Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team earned its second consecutive trip to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference postseason tournament with an 87-66 win last Saturday over Clarion University in Morrow Field House. Post-season action begins Tuesday.
The Rock, which is in the conference tournament for the third time in Kevin Reynolds’ four seasons as head coach, will take a 17-9 record into Tuesday’s 7 p.m. quarterfinal game at Mercyhurst University. Mercyhurst also has a 17-9 record.
SRU finished the regular season tied with California University of Pennsylvania for third place in the PSAC-Western Division standings. Both teams had 14-8 conference records. Mercyhurst finished second in the PSAC-West race with a 15-7 record.
Fans can follow Tuesdays action night via the “Listen Live” feature on http://www.rockathletics.com, the official Web site of The Rock athletic program. The SRU’s Sports Information Office will produce the live broadcast.
Game tickets are $7 for adults; $2 for students; and free for students from PSAC member institutions with a valid college ID.
The winner of Tuesday’s game earns a berth in semifinal action Friday at a site and time yet to be determined. Details will be posted on http://www.rockathletics.com.
