Ashley West earns All-American honor

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ashley West, a Slippery Rock University freshman from Gibsonia and a high jumper on the women’s track and field team, earned All-America honors at the 2013 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

West has been outstanding all season in her first collegiate year of action and capped the season last Saturday by earning All-America honors in the high jump in which she cleared a height of 1.70 meters (5'7”) to tie for eighth.

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association awards the top-eight finishers in each event All-America honors.

West was the only SRU female to compete at the national championships.

Cameron Daugherty, an SRU graduate student from Jacksonville, N.C., placed second in the pole vault to earn All-America honors on the men’s team.
