SRU’s Arnhold receives $60,000 grant

Robert Arnhold, Slippery Rock University professor of physical education, has received a $60,000 grant from the Edith L. Trees Charitable Trust in Pittsburgh to continue SRU’s Classroom to Community Program.

The grant is the second of a two-year grant program, Arnold said.

The Classroom to Community Program enables 26 SRU students in the adapted physical activity program to lead physical activity sessions for 25 children with disabilities. The activity sessions take place at the YMCA in Grove City. SRU students attend a class at the YMCA and then lead the physical activity sessions.

The Edith L. Trees Charity Trust is a private foundation supporting projects in western Pennsylvania.
