SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University students will display original paintings, ceramics, sculptures, multimedia and other artwork during the SRU art department's March 31-April 16 "Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition" in the Martha Gault Art Gallery in Maltby Center.
Nathan Heuer, assistant professor of drawing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, will serve as juror. The deadline for submitting work is March 26.
Heuer's work focuses on the role of constructed environments in contemporary culture, with a specific emphasis on architecture and urban design. His work has been displayed in England, Texas and elsewhere.
Tom Como, SRU professor of art and department chair, said the exhibit gives SRU students a trial run at professional art display. Students must prepare their work to be exhibit ready, meaning framed, if necessary, and tagged with artist information.
"This is an opportunity for them to publically display their work and have an opportunity to have their work juried," Como said.
Any SRU student is welcome to submit a work for the show.
