SRU Good News for March 26, 2012

Rindy video helps explain Linkedin

John Rindy, director of Slippery Rock University’s Office of Career Services, is featured in a new YouTube video “How to Use Linkedin.” In the video, Rindy offers useful advice about using Linkedin to create a professional social networking profile.

“Today I have just one question for you? Are you linked in?” Rindy asks. Linkedin gives students and graduates the opportunity to increase their networking arm span and boost the number of professionals who know about their accomplishments, he said.

The video provides advice about summarizing accomplishments, using key words, listing your job experience and education and other promotional items. He said users should skillfully and professionally build their network over time but that the possibilities are endless.

“Ask 100 people how they use Linkedin and you’ll get 100 different answers,” he said.

This is the second Office of Career Services video. Earlier this month, a YouTube video was posted explaining the new Facebook, called “Timeline.”

Mariia Berezina, an SRU graduate student from Ukraine, shot both videos.
