UPB plans first-ever 'Color The Rock' 5K

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -The University Program Board at Slippery Rock University in conjunction with the Association of Residence hall Students will host its first-ever "Color the Rock" 5K run on campus, in which participants will be "showered" in color April 13 as part of its 125th Anniversary Celebration.

The event is limited to 300 SRU student participants.

Registration, $16, is available at the Smith Student Center Information Desk and includes an event day T-shirt, pair of event day sunglasses and an individual color packet.

Heat assignments will be made at 9 a.m. the day of the run, with the 5K event launching, at 10 a.m. from the Aebersold Student Recreation Center Parking Lot.

UPB volunteers will shower runners will seven different colors of powder at four designated color stations along the course. The colored powder is made from cornstarch and is 100 percent biodegradable and non-toxic, according to race organizers. Similar projects are held in cities across the country.

All participants are required to sign and complete the SRU Assumption of Risk and Liability Release Form prior to the race.

The campus is advised that a number of on-campus roads will be closed from 10 a.m. to noon for the run.
