‘Crazy idea’ guru visits SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Got an idea for a new product, service or business venture? Robert Fishbone, author of “Selling the Scream” and best known for turning crazy ideas into profitable business ventures, has some advice for you. He will lecture at Slippery Rock University April 5.
Fishbone’s 6 p.m. lecture in the Advanced Technology and Science Hall is part of SRU’s School of Business Week.
An accomplished entrepreneur, Fishbone has created more than 150 products. He is also an accomplished artist, musician and author.
He is well-known for what he terms the “crazy idea” of turning the Scream, a figure based on Edvard Munch’s famous painting, into an inflatable product.. More than a half-million Screams have been sold globally.
Fishbone says he learned the rules of business “one mistake after another,” but is willing to share his ideas – and mistakes – with the public.
“If your dream is to bring a product to market, provide a service, set up a Web business or innovate within your current workplace” his book may have the answers, according the book’s publisher.
Fishbone promotes the idea that no idea is too crazy or unworthy of consideration and could be the basis for a new and successful business venture.
His 200-page book deals with such topics as getting started, finding a niche market, business mechanics, dealing with problems and “Bumps in the Road.” It also contains a resources list and a glossary of often used business terms.
