Jake Weidman, a Slippery Rock University information technology major from Wexford, has been accepted into the doctoral program in information sciences and technology at Pennsylvania State University.
Weidman, who will graduate from SRU in May, said his student-faculty research with Deborah Whitfield and David Dailey, SRU professors of computer science, contributed to his success. “I learned a great deal from both of them,” he said.
Weidman’s research focuses on merging concepts of graph theory with website navigation. He has been able to present at conferences in Boston and Zurich, Switzerland, and said his findings have been published at conferences.
“SRU helped me get into this doctoral program by giving me the opportunity to take part in undergraduate research,” he said. “For a graduate admissions committee, publications and conference presentations are very important.”
