Four SRU safety majors earn scholarships worth $5,900

Four Slippery Rock University safety management majors have been named recipients of ASSE Foundation Scholarships, earning $5,900 in the competition.

The recipients are:

Sarah Rothrock from Charleroi who received the $2,200 CNA Foundation Scholarship;

Samantha Turner from Warwick, R.I., who received the $1,500 Gulf Coast Past President’s award;

Morgan Valvano from Portersville who received the $1,200 PDC Scholarship

$1,200; and

Rebecca Milne from Christiana who received the $1,000 ASSE Diversity Committee Scholarship.

The American Society of Safety Engineers Foundation, established by and in partnership with the American Society of Safety Engineers, generates funding and provides resources for scholarships, applied research, academic accreditation and related academic initiatives in order to advance the safety, health and environmental profession.

The organization offers more than 70 scholarships annually.
