SRU shortstop earns National Player of the Week status

GOLDEN, Colo. - Will Kengor, a Slippery Rock University undeclared major from Pittsburgh and All-America shortstop for the SRU baseball team, was named Wednesday as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Division II National Player of the Week.
Kengor earned the national honor in the wake of previously being selected as both the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division and NCBWA Atlantic Region Player of the Week.
He batted .571 (16 for 28) with three doubles, one triple and one home run and collected 15 RBIs in eight PSAC-West games last week.
Kengor also compiled a .857 slugging percentage and a .588 on base percentage last week and was 6-for-6 in stolen bases.
Behind Kengor's lead, The Rock compiled a 6-2 record last week to improve their season marks to 20-10 overall, 9-5 against PSAC-West opponents.
The shortstop leads the PSAC in batting average (.430), total hits (52) and runs scored (36). Kengor also ranks third in triples (3), fifth in stolen bases (15) and seventh in both runs batted in (25) and doubles (9).
A year ago, Kengor compiled a league-leading/top-five-nationally .448 batting average with a team-best 28 RBIs. Those numbers earned him second-team Daktronics and third-team NCBWA and American Baseball Coaches Association All-America honors as well as consensus first-team all-region and All-PSAC-West status.
