SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -Nearly 1,400 students planning to participate in Slippery Rock University's spring commencement ceremonies are invited to join in a "Graduation Celebration" sponsored by the SGA Bookstore April 17.
The event will run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Smith Student Center Ballroom.
Distribution of commencement tickets for both the morning and afternoon graduation ceremonies is planned. Graduates must bring their student ID.
"This is going to be one-stop shopping for graduate's caps and gowns, admission tickets, and graduation announcements," said Joseph Flynn, bookstore manager. "Those students who have earned academic honors can also pick up their honors cords and the SRU Alumni Association will distribute the summa cum laude medallions."
Representatives of the alumni association along with vendor tables for such items as class rings and graduate school programs will be on hand.
Faculty and staff needing academic regalia for commencement may place orders at the event. The deadline for faculty/staff rental orders is April 30.
Light refreshments will be available.
May 18 commencement: SRU will hosts its spring commencement ceremonies in Morrow Field House at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., May 18. The morning ceremony is for graduate students and those graduating from the College of Health, Environment and Science and the College of Humanities Fine and Performing Arts. The afternoon ceremony is for those graduating from the College of Business, Information and Social Sciences and the College of Education.
A reception for graduates, their family and guests, will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Smith Student Center.
Tickets are required for admission to either ceremony. Graduates are allocated up to four commencement tickets.
Overflow seating with video streaming will be available in the Advanced Technology and Science Hall and the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center.
