Swim Club makes debut appearance
The Swim Club at Slippery Rock University made its debut appearance at the East Coast Collegiate Swim Club National Championships hosted at Georgia Tech University. Kaila Kramer, a mathematics and Spanish major from Murrysville, took honors in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle categories, and Jennifer Sabo, an elementary education and special education major from Canonsburg, took honors in the 500 freestyle finals.
Kramer took 12th place in the 50 freestyle, 13th in the 100 and 19th in the 200. Sabol placed 17th in the 500 freestyle.
Tori Baker, a biology major from Somerset, Kelsey Diltz, an elementary education and special education major from Bloomsburg, Andy Kubala, an exercise science major from Johnstown, and Nicole McGinity, an elementary education major from West Mifflin also participated.
Club plans for fall 2012 include swim meets at Akron, Miami of Ohio and Pennsylvania State universities, and hosting a meet in Morrow Field House.
Bob Ogoreuc, assistant professor of physical education, and Kimberly Smith, associate professor of exercise and rehabilitative sciences, are the club’s advisers.
