SRU vocalists present 'Opera Scenes'

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -Slippery Rock University music majors with a focus in vocal performance will present "Opera Scenes" at 7:30 p.m., April 27, in Swope Music Hall.

Colleen Gray, SRU associate professor of music, and Daniel Stait, an SRU music major from State College, will direct the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival event.

Students will perform a number of scenes running the gamut of opera. They include Strauss' "Die Fledermaus," which will be sung in English; Donizetti's "L'Elisier d'Amore," Bizet's "Pearl Fishers" and Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro." Other scenes include Puccini's "Madame Butterfly and Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor."

Translations of scenes not in English will be projected above the stage.

The suggested donation, which supports student scholarships, is $3 for children and students and $5 for adults.
