SRU awards Puntureri Scholarship

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Miranda Ryan, a Slippery Rock University mathematics major from Leechburg has been named this year's winner of the $1,000 Joseph S. and Eva Puntureri Memorial Science Scholarship.

The Interstate Chemical Co., Inc., located in West Middlesex, established the scholarship at SRU.

The annual scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior SRU student majoring in natural sciences, mathematics, computer science or environmental health and safety, with a 3.25 or higher grade point average.

Applicants are also required to show potential for success in their chosen field, financial need and provide an essay related to the topic "How My University Education Will Be Beneficial in Pursuing My Career."

Applications for next year's scholarship are due by March 15 to SRU's Office of University Advancement, 100 Old Main.
