SRU's Grbac earns first-team All-PSAC in tennis

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -Nikolina Grbac, a Slippery Rock University finance major from Pula, Croatia, was named today as a first-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division women's tennis singles performer in voting by the division's head coaches.
Grbac compiled a 36-16 record this season as The Rock's top player.
A transfer from Division I University of New Mexico, where she played her first three collegiate seasons, Grbac won 20 of 25 singles matches as SRU's No.1 singles player. Grbac also teamed with classmate Sarah Joumond to compile a 16-11 record as The Rock's No. 1 doubles team.
The team is awaiting word on their bid for an eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II national tournament. The tournament field will be released Tuesday.
As a team, The Rock compiled a 13-12 record in dual-match competition during the 2013-14 season. SRU was the No. 6 team in the most-recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association D-II Atlantic Region ranking, which is expected to parallel the NCAA regional rankings that will ultimately decide the national-tournament competitors.
