SRU Multicultural Development Offices awards graduates

Slippery Rock University’s Office of Multicultural Development honored seven students and one faculty member as part of graduation week activities.

Graduating seniors honored as part of Thursday’s reception were:

Nicole Payne, a criminology and criminal justice major from New Castle, and Nayan Joyappa, an accounting and finance major from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, received the Academic Award for having the highest grade point average for students participating in the Office of Multicultural Development Graduation Celebration.

Abbey Sawl, a therapeutic recreation major from Pittsburgh, and Sarah Miller, a psychology major from Meadville, received the Jump Start Mentor Award.

Sean Thomas, a criminology and criminal justice major from Pittsburgh, and Mariah Banks, a professional studies major from Johnstown, received the Outstanding Senior Award.

Jewelle Motley, a graduate student in the student affairs in higher education program from Pittsburgh, received the Perseverance Award.

Christine Pease-Hernandez, assistant professor of communication, received the Silent Warrior honor.
