First SRU woman president arrives Monday

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa - Cheryl Norton becomes the 16th president of Slippery Rock University and the first woman to serve in that position Monday.

She will be available for “first-day-on-the-job” photos and brief interviews at 8:30 a.m.

Norton was previously a senior fellow with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities in Washington, D.C., and former president of Southern Connecticut State University. She was selected to lead the 8,600-student university following a national search.
