Second SRU basketball player signs Luxembourg contract

Darious Clark, a Slippery Rock University undeclared major from Clinton, Md., and senior shooting guard on the SRU basketball team, has signed a deal to play in the Luxembourg second league with BBC Gréngewald Hueschtert.

Earlier this summer, Devin Taylor, a member of the SRU team from New Castle, signed to play in Luxembourg's top league, the Total League, with the Etzella Ettelbruck club. The Total League is the league that former SRU star Denell Stephens, who recently signed on to play for a fifth year, is playing in.

"Today is another great day for Slippery Rock men's basketball," said Kevin Reynolds, head SRU basketball coach. "Darious had an outstanding senior season on the court for us, and I am glad we were able to help find him a place to continue his professional career. The Rock will be well-represented in Luxembourg's top leagues next season."

Clark, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound guard from Clinton, played one season at The Rock and made an immediate impact last winter after transferring from Illinois State. He started the season on the bench and quickly moved into a starting role, appearing in all 32 games and making 25 starts.

Clark helped lead SRU to the conference title game and to the second round of the NCAA Tournament on the strength of his shooting, where he led the team with 66 made three-pointers and a .332 shooting efficiency behind the arc. He scored 397 points for a 12.4 point per game average and also added 4.6 rebounds per game to go along with 32 assists and 31 steals.

Clark was the leading scorer for SRU in 12 of the team’s 32 games and recorded double figures in 19 outings.

BBC Gréngewald Hueschtert is in Niederanven, Luxembourg. The team roster last season MAINLY featured Luxembourg-born players, but included two American starters, forward Nick Harrington from Southern, and point guard Nick Crecco, from Dartmouth. Clark is expected to play a shooting guard position.

Slippery Rock University is Pennsylvania's premier public residential university.
