Seneca Valley names SRU alumnus assistant superintendent

Sean McCarty, a 1995 Slippery Rock University special education, elementary education/early childhood development graduate, has been named assistant superintendent for elementary education K-6 at the Seneca Valley School District in nearby Harmony.

McCarty, who had worked in the district’s Adams school, joined the district 16 years ago as a special education teacher. He was later promoted to assistant principal and in 2007 was named principal at the district’s Middle School.

In addition to his SRU degree, McCarty earned his principal certification and his master’s and doctorate degrees in education from the University of Pittsburgh.
