Karen Perry, assistant director of campus recreation at Slippery Rock University and a member of the Slippery Rock Rotary Club, has earned the club’s Ted Walwik Community Service Award and $1,000 for her volunteer efforts in the community.
The award, presented annually since 1992 in honor of Walwik, a longtime member of the SRU communication faculty and local Rotary club leader, salutes a community member who is devoted to community service.
Perry was selected for her efforts on behalf of local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and a number of other charitable organizations in which she volunteers, according to Jeffrey Berta, president of the local service organization.
Perry joined SRU’s campus recreation staff in 1999
