SRU graduates, 50 Finest nominees raises cystic fibrosis funds

Danika Wukich, a 2009 Slippery Rock University marketing graduate, and Ashlee Shearer, a 2010 safety and environmental management graduate, have been has been named to Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest list and are helping raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Wukich, a business development officer for PNC Financial Services and a resident of the Pittsburgh community, is part of the Pittsburgh Rotary, District 7300 and actively supports local community development. She also lends support to international wellness programs, including Polio Plus and clean water initiatives.

Wukich is director of social media for Filterpure Filters, which supports clean water initiatives in Haiti. She recently completed a scouting trip in Arbonite Valley, Haiti.

She is active in her community and a member of the Pittsburgh Sports League, Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project, and Pittsburgh Young Professionals.

Shearer is a food safety coordinator for Aramark, a major contract food vendor operation at stadiums, ball fields and concert settings throughout the region. Shearer is responsible for ensuring the safety of food at Heinz Field, PNC Park, Stage AE, Consol Energy Center and First Niagara Pavilion.

            In addition she oversees food safety for Aramark’s post-event food donations given to the community food bank.

            Shearer, who has lived in Ireland and traveled throughout Europe, resides in Pittsburgh. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, cooking, music and reading.

            She is sponsored by Slippery Rock Self Storage, Aramark, and other friends and family.

The 50 Finest program, now in its 16th year, selects outstanding professionals based on their activity in the community and success in their careers. Participants work to raise a minimum $2,500 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

A culmination gala, hosted by former 50 Finest honorees Amber Nicotra and John Meyer of WTAE, Channel 4, is at 7 p.m., today in the Grand Ballroom of the William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh. Admission is $55 in advance; $60 at the door.
