SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -Slippery Rock University's Center for Student Involvement and Leadership will welcome both new and returning students with two weeks of "WOW" activities starting with the beginning of fall semester classes Aug. 26.
"These campuswide events are designed for SRU students to experience the campus community and its opportunities in a new and fun way," said Brad Kovaleski, CSIL director.
Detailed information on the activities, their times and place, is being distributed to students via residence hall room door hangers and by banners, posters and social media.
The events offer a wide range of programming, including a "Get Involved Carnival;" employment opportunities session with AVI Fresh, the campus food contractor; give-a-ways; a "Battle of the Pizzas" event; and also include "UPB Welcome Back" activities, sponsored by the University Program Board.
Events will be offered throughout campus, including the Quad outside Bailey Library and the Smith Student Center.
"Two Weeks of WOW" is a joint venture with a number of SRU departments and organizations, as well as, with businesses in the Slippery Rock community. Among those participating are the Green & White Society, Student Government Association, the SRU Red Cross Club, SGA Bookstore and UPB. Campus organizational programming will include a Club and Organization Fair, tie dyeing and "College Colors Day - Pledge Your Allegiance to SRU."
Campus and community groups include CSIL, AVI Fresh, the Office of Annual Giving/Senior Gift, Weege's, Coffaro's Pizza, Domino's Pizza, La Famiglia Restaurant and Fox's Pizza Den.
