GRAND LAKE, Colo. – Four members of the Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2012 Academic Honor Roll by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be at least a junior academically and have an outstanding academic record.
Representing the Rock were May graduates Amy Halls, a business degree recipient from Westerville, Ohio, and Emma VanDenburg, a health and physical education degree recipient from Brockport, N.Y., along with current seniors Ariel Gilbert, a health and physical education major from Flemington, N.J., and Jami Meirick, a management and finance major from Pasadena, Md. Halls and VanDenburg are repeat selections. Gilbert and Meirick each earned their first honor.
Slippery Rock finished the 2011-12 academic year with a collective team GPA of 3.263, which ranked as the highest in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The program was recently awarded the IWLCA All-Academic team honor. The team finished the year with a 12-5 record – establishing a school record for wins in a single season.
