SRU's UPB books comedian Erik Griffin

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -The University Program Board at Slippery Rock University will host stand-up comedian Erik Griffin, best known for his Montez Walker role on Comedy Central's "Workaholics," at 7 p.m., Sept. 6.

The show is in the Smith Student Center Ballroom.

"This is our effort to bring laughter and entertainment to kick start the fall semester," said Matan Cohen, a sports management major from Rochester, N.Y., and UPB president of concerts and comedian programming.

The performance will include video clips from Griffin's Comedy Central performances.

The event is free to SRU students, and $3 for the general public. Doors open at 6 p.m.

In addition to his Comedy Central work, Griffin has been seen on NBC and Showtime. His first national exposure was at "Live at Gotham" on Comedy Central followed by NBC's "Last Comic Driving" and Showtime's "Comics without Borders."

He has been featured in several commercials, including the Emmy- winning, Bud Light beer "Swear Jar" ad.

He recently appeared on "Surviving the Holidays" on the History Channel and guest starred on TNT's "Franklin & Bash." He was featured at the 2008 NACA National Conference, the 2007 East Regional and 2006 NACA West Regional Showcases.
