SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -Slippery Rock University's Center for Student Involvement and Leadership will host a Clubs and Organizations Fair from 12:30-2 p.m., Sept. 5, to encourage students to get involved in campus life.
The fair will be on the Quad. (Rain: Smith Student Center Ballroom.)
"This is a chance for students, especially new students, to see the various kinds of activities and programs that are offered on campus by our clubs and organizations," said Charlie Judge, CSIL assistant director.
Participating students will have the opportunity to visit booths, gather information on how to get involved and meet current members of the organizations to gain personal insight regarding campus involvement, he said. More than 150 of SRU's 180 clubs and organizations are expected to participate.
"By getting involved in co-curricular activities students can enhance their college experience through learning valuable leadership skills, networking opportunities and making new college friends," Judge said. "By participating in such activities, students can enhance their resume and build their leadership skills, while also helping the campus, the local community and beyond."
SRU clubs and organizations range from academic-based organizations, to social organizations, to athletic and special interest groups.
"CSIL encourages students to stop by the fair to kick off their year with knowledge of all that SRU has to offer outside the classroom," Judge said.
Refreshments will be provided by AVI, the campus contract food vendor.
