Decker earns VA certified status

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -Renee Decker, government contracting specialist at Slippery Rock University's Government Contracting Assistance Office, has earned U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs certified verification counselor status.

The GCAC is a Procurement Technical Assistance Center providing federal, state and local government contracting assistance to area businesses.

Decker recently completed training to qualify as a VA certified verification counselor.

As such, she will provide verification assistance to veteran and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses interested in selling their products or services to the VA.

"Businesses must complete the verification process through the Vetbiz Registry in order to be eligible to participate in Veteran-Owned and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business set-asides issued by the VA. Prime contractors are also able to be credited for using these businesses in VA contracts with subcontracting plans," she said.

Decker can help businesses understand the eligibly requirements of the program, explain and review documentation that must be submitted and provide hands-on assistance through the electronic submittal process.

For additional information on the VA Verification process or other GCAC services call Decker at 724.738.2346.
