Steven Struble, a 2006 Slippery Rock University health and physical education graduate, has been named director of men’s basketball operations at Winthrop University.
Pat Kelsey, newly named head coach at the South Carolina university made the appointment.
“I am very excited about the addition of Steve to our staff,” Kelsey told the HeraldOnline.com. “Steve was a graduate assistant during my tenure at Xavier and impressed me with his passionate work ethic. He is extremely organized and attacks everything he does with great energy. He knows my philosophy and system very well.”
Struble has served as video coordinator for the University of Delaware since last September. Prior to taking that position, he was graduate assistant at Xavier University for two years before earning a master’s in education.
He has also worked in the basketball program at St. Mary’s College in Maryland where he helped lead that school to two conference championships, one Sweet Sixteen appearance and one Elite Eight appearance, according to the HeraldOnline.com. During his three years at St. Mary’s that program produced three all-conference players, two all-region performers and one All-American.
