SRU graduate leads Pocono Mountain School baseball team

Steve Olizarowicz, a 1996 Slippery Rock University physical education graduate and former SRU baseball shortstop, has been named head baseball coach for the Pocono Mountain School District.

Olizarowicz has been a physical education teacher, including working last year as a physical education teacher at the Pocono Mountain West Junior High School, for 16 years. He will continue as boys soccer coach.

“We need more commitment from the coaching staff and the players for 12 months of the year," Olizarowicz told the Pocono Record in taking over the post. "The teams beating us have programs that carry through summer, fall and winter. It's not a secret. We have enough nucleus and talented kids coming up to make a successful team.”

Slippery Rock University is Pennsylvania's premier public residential university.
