SGA hires new business manager

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -Wendy Leitera has been hired as the business manager for the Student Government Association at Slippery Rock University.

"She brings a wealth of experience in advanced finance, accounting and management skills, and we certainly welcome her," said Rogers Clements, SGA president. "We in SGA and students across campus look forward to working with her in the coming year."

SGA's business manager serves as the chief operating officer the Slippery Rock Student Government Association Inc., a non-profit 501c3 corporation. Duties include overseeing operations at the SGA Bookstore, the SGA Preschool/Childcare Center and the Cooperative Activities Office.

The manager is responsible for budgets and forecasts, investments, audits, current funds accounting, financial planning, personnel/labor relations and office management. The manager also handles risk management, purchasing, grant writing, the shuttle bus contract and banking services for affiliated organizations and serves as liaison with various University departments and offices.

Leitera most recently served as assistant controller with Lender Processing Services Inc. Origination Technology in Sharon. The company is a provider of software solutions to the mortgage banking industry.

Her work included month-end financial processing, internal financial statement preparation and corporate financing reporting requirements. She had previously served POS as a staff accountant.

Leitera has also worked as director of operations and assistant executive director at Community Alternatives Inc. in New Castle, a nonprofit, community-based social service agency serving western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.

Her duties included recruiting, training and managing some 50 employees during implementation of agency goals, and meeting objectives and standards in accordance with state guidelines and regulations.

A master of business administration graduate of Youngstown State University, she earned her bachelor of science degree in psychology from Syracuse University.

Leitera replaces Cathy George who retires Sept. 30 after 29 years of service as business manager.
