SRU graduate heads Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4

Wayde Killmeyer, a 1998 Slippery Rock University secondary education graduate, has been named executive director of the Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4.

Killmeyer was the superintendent for the Clairton City and Avella school districts and brings more than 15 years of educational experience to the post.

He has also been involved in intermediate units at other states, including serving as chair of Intermediate Unit 1’s operations committee while at the Avella School District. At Clairton, he was involved in Allegheny Intermediate Unit 3’s special education committee, workforce development committee and legislative advocacy committee.

He also served as IU 1’s superintendent representative to the Special Education Local Task Force, which is made up of parents and school officials who want to provide quality services to students with special needs.

Killmeyer earned his doctorate in educational leadership from Duquesne University and also has degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Maryland.
