SRU's UPB seeks 'Great Race' volunteers

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The University Program Board at Slippery Rock University will shuttle 48 student volunteers to the City of Pittsburgh's Great Race Sept. 29 as part of its new service committee's first project.

The 5k and 10k races will benefits amyloidosis disease, a rare protein disorder.

Registrations are being accepted at the UPB Office, 234 Smith Student Center.

The UPB-sponsored bus will depart from the Smith Center at 4:45 a.m. and return at approximately 12:15 p.m. Students will be stationed at the finish line refreshments area to assist in preparation and to hand drinks to runners as they finish.

The Great Race will provide T-shirts and community service hours will be awarded for those participating as volunteers.
