SRU program seeks 'all night bowlers'
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Center for Student Involvement and Leadership at Slippery Rock University and the University's art department are hosting an "All Night Bowling" program where volunteers paint ceramic soup bowls for the upcoming Empty Bowls fundraiser.
The bowl painting will take place from 7-10 p.m., Oct. 1, in the Art Ceramics Building.
More than 100 volunteers are expected to participate.
Once painted, the bowls will be kiln fired. Those attending the Empty Bowls fundraiser will take home their bowl as a reminder of local, national and worldwide hunger.
Funds raised at the Oct. 15 Empty Bowls event will be used to help support the Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard.
The lunch/dinner event in the Smith Student Center will run 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes a meal of soup, bread and beverage in addition to the take-home bowl.
