Off-Broadway’s ‘Press Play’ casts SRU dance graduate

Brennen Cooper, a 2012 Slippery Rock University dance and theatre graduate, will make his off-Broadway debut Oct. 24.

Cooper has been selected as cast member of “Press Play,” a new, avant-garde theatrical dance show. He will perform as a member of the ensemble and will understudy the leading male role.

Since graduating from SRU, Cooper has been successful in New York City by working in the commercial dance scene as a backup dancer for Channing Tatum and now has landed a job in an off-Broadway production.

“Press Play” features a score by modern techno-house music producers and is a visual experience of live, interactive 3D projections. The show fuses these two elements with innovative contemporary choreography to tell a post-apocalyptic story about the aftermath of World War III and the importance of freedom.

Slippery Rock University is Pennsylvania's premier public residential university. Slippery Rock University provides students with a comprehensive learning experience that intentionally combines academic instruction with enhanced educational and learning opportunities that make a positive difference in their lives.
