SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable Systems Education and Research will host a Harvest Fest from 1 to 5 p.m., Oct. 26. The event will be followed by a series of Halloween Hikes beginning at 7 p.m.
The free, family-friendly event at the center located on Harmony, across from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium, will include an array of local sustainable merchants and vendors offering food, apple cider and apple butter demonstrations.
The day will include children's games, live music, interpretive programs and raffles.
A 2 p.m. scarecrow-building contest will benefit the on-campus clothing and coat drive. Participants must bring their own clothing and coats for their scarecrow. Straw and support sticks will be provided. All items will be collected at the end of the contest to support the clothing drive.
The all-ages Halloween Hike is a free interpretive and theatrical event, including a bonfire and details of local folklore. It will run on-the-hour beginning at 7 p.m., with the last hike leaving at 9 p.m.
