SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University students interested in exploring the majors or minors offered at SRU are urged to attend the free Academic Services Major and Minors Fair Oct. 23.
The 12:30-1:30 p.m. fair will be in the Smith Student Center Ballroom.
"Like last year, this year's fair will see every academic department at SRU, more than 30 of them, represented," said Susan Parsons, director of SRU's exploratory studies program and assistant professor of Academic Services.
"This is really a chance for students thinking about choosing or changing their major, or looking at other areas of interest, to talk with a faculty member and see what specific programs are offered. They can also explore what academic areas are involved. It is a great chance to review requirements for majors or minors and to see what minor might enhance their major when it comes time to seek employment," she said. "There will also be pamphlets and other information to take away from the fair."
Tips on steps necessary to change majors or add minors will be available. The Office of Career Education and Development will staff the event to offer advice.
Last year, more than 400 students attended, she said.
Refreshments will be provided.
