SRU's CSIL, Smith Center sponsor blood drive, 'Rocky Horror' fun

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Center for Student Involvement and Leadership and the Smith Student Center at Slippery Rock University are partnering to offer an expanded version of annual "Rocky Horror" activities, including an American Red Cross Blood Drive and the showing of the cult film. "Rocky Horror Picture Show."

The CSIL, in conjunction with the Grove, AVI, PepsiCo and the American Red Cross, will sponsor the "Rocky Horror I Bleed Green and White Blood Bash" Oct. 31. The blood collection "Bash" will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Smith Student Center Ballroom.

The American Red Cross asked the CSIL to coordinate an emergency blood drive as part of the Rocky Horror Blood Bash Week activities. SRU is in the running to be named "College of the Year" for donations by the Red Cross.

The "Rocky Horror Picture Show" will be shown Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the center's ballroom.

A story of creation, love, hate, adventure and sex, the 1974 film has garnered a cult following during the last 40 years. The "spirit" of the film is to be interactive with the audience. The CSIL will give moviegoers the necessary props.

Admission to the film is five cans of food or $3. Proceeds will benefit the local Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard.
